It is only in the last few years that Australians have really celebrated Halloween. I don’t get it. I know it’s a pagan festival, but then again, I’ve been told that Christmas is a pagan festival that the Church adopted because they weren’t sure exactly when Christ was born. As I tell the Jehovah’s Witnesses who come to my door to argue about spiritual things, I don’t care when Christ was actually born, just that he was born. That is what I celebrate on Christmas day.
That said, I have no idea what people celebrate on Halloween. Do they actually have something to celebrate? For Grace, at her art blog, she is celebrating that the witch is dead. I will celebrate that Satan is defeated and rendered powerless at the hand of Jesus Christ.
If you’re looking for something crafty to do for Halloween, I am particularly fond of these Purple People Eater Luminaries.
